The mission of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Mattel Children's Hospital is to provide state-of-the art treatment for children in a compassionate atmosphere, as well as conduct research that improves the understanding and treatment of pediatric diseases. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Center at Mattel Children’s Hospital is a multi-disciplinary comprehensive program focused on improving the cure and the quality of cure in infants, children and young adults with primary brain and spinal cord tumors. Every patient is delivered indivualized therapy based on input from pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric oncology, radiation oncology, neuroradiology, stem cell transplant, neurology and neuropathology. Each child receives family-centered care that focuses on the needs of the patient and family as a whole. Our team is supported by excellent professionals in psychology, social work, nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology and school rehabilitation.

Through laboratory and clinical research, the goal of the Pediatric Brain Tumor Center at Mattel Children’s Hospital is to develop innovative clinical treatments for children with brain and spine tumors that result in improved survival with less long-term toxicity and better quality of life.

Pediatric Neuro-oncologist
Dr. Tom Belle Davidson is a pediatric neuro-oncologist who specializes in caring for children with brain and spine tumors. Her research is focused on developing novel clinical therapies. She is currently developing a clinical trial using immunotherapy to improve the outcomes of children with high-grade gliomas.

Pediatric Neurosurgeon
Dr. Wang is a pediatric neurosurgeon who specializes in the treatment of children with brain and spine tumors. His clinical research focuses on defining the molecular and genetic characterization of pediatric tumors in particular in order to better individualize treatment regimens for each patient. His laboratory research focuses on refining combinatorial immunotherapy treatments for pediatric tumors specifically.
