Kristin Schroeder, MD MPH

Co-Principal Investigator, Pediatric Neuro-Oncologist

Dr. Kristin Schroeder is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Duke University and a pediatric neuro-oncologist specializing in the care of children and adolescents with brain and spinal cord tumors. She completed fellowships in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Pediatric Neuro-Oncology, and Global Health at Duke University after her pediatric residency at the University of North Carolina. She earned her MD from Georgetown University and her MPH from West Virginia University.

Her clinical practice spans the multidisciplinary care of children with central nervous system tumors, with particular interests in long-term follow-up, survivorship, and improving quality of life for children living with and beyond cancer. She is also a member of the Duke Comprehensive Neurofibromatosis Clinic, caring for children and adults with neurofibromatosis and other tumor predisposition syndromes.

Dr. Schroeder’s research focuses on improving outcomes for children with CNS tumors through clinical research, implementation science, and innovations in care delivery. Since 2014, she has partnered with Bugando Medical Centre in Tanzania to expand pediatric neuro-oncology services and study strategies to improve timely diagnosis, treatment completion, and supportive care.
